Hi there! I’m Kate.
On most weekends, you might find me spending time outside in my garden, playing a ridiculously long game of Dungeons and Dragons, watching a movie, reading, crafting, or hopping to the nearest garage sale or thrift store. So far my family hasn’t complained too much about my enthusiasm for imaginary adventure, craft collecting, and goofy antics, but my toddler’s vocabulary is limited to animal sounds right now so she can’t really vocalize her annoyance yet.
As someone who has struggled with selective mutism, social anxiety, and trauma, I know how awful it can feel when you are stuck. Or when you have so many inner conflicts about what to do, you just shut down. Or when you are just confused about why certain things happen and why you can’t seem to get yourself to “get over” something. Or when you feel like you just don’t fit in with anyone so you have to hide or mask parts of yourself.
Having personally walked this path in my own life and therapy journey, I know the value of what a supportive (and creative) therapist can do to make things feel a bit easier.
If you are walking a similar path- feeling isolated, overwhelmed, stuck, or broken – then you’ve found your people. It’s me, it’s the other people in my office, it’s the peers in the groups we do here, and it’s so good to have you in this space with us.
