Creative Arts Therapy

Helping You Build Confidence And Grow Connection

Sometimes it’s hard to find the words when you’re deep in the mud. Many people who start Creative arts therapy feel stuck in a rut, unable to move forward. Maybe you’re struggling with anxiety, self-esteem issues, transitions, or trauma – whatever those struggles are – they aren’t easy.

It can be really discouraging if you’ve tried to find ways to feel better before but things haven’t quite worked. Or maybe it’s your first time looking for therapy and the idea of sitting across from someone feels way too intense. Wherever you are in your healing journey, there is a creative way we can find relief for you.

Whether you are a young adult, college student, recent graduate, or have been adulting for some time now, there is a space for you here.

Do You Feel Stressed, Irritated, Stuck?

Do any of the following resonate with you?

  • You feel misunderstood
  • You feel like you can’t clearly articulate yourself in traditional talk therapy
  • You’re struggling with anxiety, difficult transitions, stress, worry, trauma, and/or self-esteem
  • You struggle with connecting to others
  • You’re overwhelmed thinking about sitting across from someone and being in the spotlight
  • You’re sick of feeling stuck with expressing yourself

If these sound true for you, I want you to know that even though it can feel so isolating when you are struggling, you are not alone. Therapy (with someone who gets it!) can make you feel validated, understood, and heard. You don’t have to keep toughing it out alone. There are many more creative options that we can find to help you feel better.

Sometimes talking over the phone can soothe the fears that you may have about this process.

Creative Arts Therapy Can Help You Feel More Connected and Less Stressed

It is possible to feel better. Imagine a life where you could…

  • Feel truly connected to others
  • Feel proud and accepting of who you are
  • Reduce the stress, overwhelm, and anxiety of the day-to-day
  • Cultivate the identity you want and run with it
  • Grow your confidence
  • Explore the multitude of creative ways to express yourself

Change Your Perspective On Life

You will get you the fresh perspective you need to uncover strengths and learn new life skills and discover things about yourself that you haven’t realized before. Discovering new strengths or insights about yourself can lead to new perspectives, new coping skills, and deeper understanding.

I’ve helped many people through creative and expressive arts therapies who have not found success in traditional talk therapy. My clients have found new ways to express themselves through music, art, play, games, or other mediums and with that comes a growth in confidence and connection to others. I’ve even had people have success with utilizing Dungeons & Dragons in sessions — any creative approach can help!

How Creative Arts Therapy Works

Creative arts therapy consists of 53, one-on-one sessions that help you work through your concerns utilizing a variety of creative mediums. That can include things like music, art, sandtray, storytelling, games, and even Dungeons & Dragons.

In addition to listening, I will support you with creative and artistic experiences to explore your inner world, your struggles, and your strengths; I play an active role. Creative arts therapy can be blended with many other approaches including EMDR, mindfulness, CBT, parts work, and others, depending upon what feels good for you.

Once we’ve developed a strong relationship and you build trust with me, we will begin to deepen the work of identifying difficulties, stressors, pressures, and unwanted thoughts. I strategically integrate other therapeutic approaches (like creative arts/expressive therapy, IFS, mindfulness) into EMDR to support you with staying motivated in the work. You will begin to develop an understanding of how the brain works, what coping skills work for you, and dig deeper to understand the core beliefs that drive your actions.
